Neighborhood Group invites All to a Birthday Party

This year the Jane Foundation (Keepinkidsfirst) is celebrating all of our Mid-City neighbors’ birthdays in

December, January, February and March with a winter party on Saturday, Feb. 9th from 2:30-4:30 p.m. at

Burns United Methodist Church, 1909 M. L. King Blvd.

The event will honor 2 special neighbors in their 90’s – Josephine Pickett, turning 94 this March, and Hobart DePatten, who turned 91 on January 18.

Entertainment will include the honorees themselves. Mrs. Pickett will play the piano by audience

request. Mr. DePatten will reminisce about growing up on Center Street, an area that no longer exists since

it was taken for urban renewal in the ‘60s. Other entertainment will include the Capitol City Steppers and

Line Dancers who will get everyone into motion. Besides, there will be a session of drumming and maybe

even hula hooping.

All persons attending with winter birthdays will receive a small remembrance.

Admission is 9 cents for Children and 99 cents – to $99.00 for adults.

Your contribution is tax-deductible except for what you eat and any gifts you accept. Make checks payable to The Jane Foundation or visit our website for online donation. Mail checks to The Jane Foundation, Box 41391, Des Moines, IA 50311

The event is sponsored by The Jane Foundation – KeepinKidsFirst, assisted by Burns United Methodist Church. Jane Magers, cofounder of the Jane Foundation, who’s birthday is December 24, started celebrating her birthday with her community 2 years ago, before she started The Jane Foundation.
