DES MOINES, IA, July 18, 2011 – Thrivent Builds Neighborhoods (TBN), a program of Thrivent Builds with Habitat for Humanity, is coming to a successful close thanks to the efforts and support of the greater Des Moines community and coalition partners. The TBN Coalition will be celebrating and reflecting on the amazing accomplishments of this three year community development project as well as cutting the ribbon on a brand new playground at Edna Griffin Park on August 16th starting at 2:00PM.
Achievements of TBN include: 71 new or rehabilitated homes in King Irving and Mondamin Presidential neighborhoods, 50 no or low interest home repair loans, 131 property enhancements through Rock the Blocks and Rebuilding Together Days, over 450 residents connected to housing resources through the TBN Housing Outreach program, ten traffic safety improvements on MLK Jr. Pkwy (like countdown pedestrian crossings and real time speed displays), and $12 Million in additional investments in the King Irving and Mondamin Presidential Neighborhoods.
