Evelyn Davis Park has proven itself to be the center of all things fun this summer. Anytime that Mid City Connection stops by there is something new. Mid City youth will be able to participate in things like Police Explorers, fishing, field trips, tennis, boxing and gardening. Something very special was happening last week at the park. It was the After School Arts Program annual summer arts camp week. The creativity and enthusiasm was everywhere. There was a Native American Drumming class studio, a painting studio, and a studio dedicated to creating a giant Eagle puppet. The Eagle has been chosen by the kids as the mascot for Evelyn Davis Park and there were eagles everywhere including a real bald eagle that visited the park. This is the third year that the ASAP with the support of Thrivent Builds Neighborhoods has hosted the summer arts camp. It was a great visit and this reporter couldn’t help but feel inspired.
