Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers. ~Charles W. Eliot
In this day of Facebook and Google, instant gratification through instant information has never been more easy. It is good to see that there are still places able to balance that accessibility with real tangible knowledge. The Forest Avenue Library is doing many great things.
The building is of course filled with books and magazines, has quite a delightful staff there to help you with whatever resources they have at hand, has an array of computers for all your needs from internet browsing and word processing to learning games and language software, and has many partnerships that bring fun and educational programming throughout the business hours.
Every Tuesday at 4p is for teens at the Library. They have all sorts of fun programs to offer. If you get this by today, they will be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day and March Madness with green cookies and brackets.
Their job assistance program meets every Tuesday and Thursday from 1-4pm. The library has partnered with ISED to help those in need to search for available job opportunities.
The make-it and take-it craft program will be meeting this Saturday, March 19th. During the day, kids can stop by and create their own cloud mobile to hang up and catch the breeze.
These are just three great examples of what are going on. Check out their calendar to see the rest.
